Day 4: Picnic in the Park

Karwarra Australian Plant Garden, Kalorama - Guests meet here from 9:00 am for a 10.00 am departure.

The gardens featured on this day include:

Mernda Heights, Olinda -  Recently featured on Gardening Australia, Mernda Heights is an elegant garden of significant history, rich with beautifully aged, sculptural flora. Large rhododendrons line the entrance to this six-acre garden featuring a vivid Mollis Azalea Garden, Laburnum Walk and Magnolia Lawn.

Ferny Creek Horticultural Society, Kallista - Expansive lawns sweep past banks of colourful Azalea, Rhododendrons, Pacific Coast Iris and more, with views of the nearby hills and  The Great Dividing Range in the distance.

Take in the stunning views over a provided Gourmet Picnic Lunch following your guided tour of this stunning acreage.


Midgarth, Sherbrook - Alpine plants, Lilies of the Valley and a colourful rockery all combine to delight the visitor. These very talented owners will guide you through their alpine specialist garden and provide a short workshop on how to make a Hypertufa Planter, with an opportunity to purchase plants afterwards.

Rhodo Glen Nursery, The Patch - Specialising in Camellias, Rhododendrons and Buxus this Wholesale Nursery (not open to the public) will share the secrets to growing these plants and the process involved to getting the plants from cuttings to pot size. You will also have the opportunity to purchase plants at discounted rates.

Karwarra Australian Plant Garden, Kalorama - Guests return to Karwarra for a glass of wine and hors-d'oeuvres before retiring to their own accommodation or making their way home.
