Meeting at Karwarra Nursery and Garden in Kalorama you will board the bus with botanical guide and expert plantsman Eddie Wasbutzki. The gardens featured on this day include:

Karwarra Nursery, Kalorama -  tour the garden and gain an insight into its creation.

Mingary, Sassafras -  a 1920s weatherboard cottage with mature trees including Nothafagus, Parrotia and Cornus kousa. A fernery created underneath mature tree ferns showcases a variety of cool climate plantings and a unique use of space.

Wychelm’, Sassfras - Will amaze as you move down each terrace to the stunning water feature and bridge. The towering trees create a spectacular canopy over a loved and tended garden.

Mernda Heights, Olinda -  An elegant garden of significant history with trees and plants rich in natural sculpture and aged beauty. A tour of this garden will follow a picnic lunch.

Hollingdale, Sassafras - A former Rhododendron Nursery, Hollingdale has recently been renovated to reveal a garden full of exotic plants and shrubs.


Sparkling refreshments will await you on your return to Karwarra in the evening.

​Meeting at Karwarra Nursery and Garden in Kalorama each morning, enjoy a cup of tea and some fresh baked cookies.

Joost Baker, Monbulk - A champion of sustainability his garden is modern and well thought out. Joost will share his experiences as it evolved and continues to grow into the surrounding landscape.

Beechmont, Olinda - Formal parterres, hedges, a walled garden and informal native gardens appeal to everyone who enjoys a tranquil retreat. It also makes the perfect setting for lunch.

Culraven, Olinda - Edna Walling designed,  the 6-acre woodland garden is planted with exotic plants along mossy winding paths to reveal many surprises.  The owners have restored and enhanced this garden with help from Aaron Condon.

Gentiana Nursery - Expert nurserymen will present a workshop with the opportunity to then browse and purchase plants.


Sparkling refreshments will await you on your return to Karwarra in the evening.

The Keatings, Olinda - The scale and setting of this property has inspired a design substantially picturesque in style for which expansive near and distant views provide a constantly changing backdrop.

Cloudehill, Olinda - A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the stunning surrounds of Cloudehill where traditional showcase gardening is perfectly executed.

The Browns, Sassafras - Over the past 3 years, owners have cleared, replanted and re-landscaped with unrivalled dedication.

Wychelm, Sassafras - Move down each garden terrace to the stunning water feature and bridge and admire the towering trees that create a spectacular canopy over a loved and tended garden with far too many features to mention. Enjoy sparkling refreshments here before heading back to Karwarra at the end of the day.

Winter Rose, Olinda - Behind a maple leaf gate, a winding footpath leads you past a tiny shelter and into a woodland of beeches, pinoaks, maple trees and azaleas.

Scotsmont, Clematis - The sights and scents on a spring day are heady and filled with colour in this pretty garden full of flowers.

Woodlands, Clematis - will delight with spectacular layers of flowers and foliage.

Nobelius Heritage Park and Museum, Emerald - Tour the world famous Nobelius Nursery of the late 1800’s which inspired a stunning collection of plants grown and sold in the nursery at the time.

Rhodo Glen Nursery, The Patch - a presentation workshop and the opportunity to purchase.

Eddie Wasbutzki is the current head gardener of the historically significant Beechmont in Olinda, a garden guide with Botanica and also looks after his own 2-acre garden in the hills. A passionate gardener and plant expert, Eddie's knowledge has grown through the 30 years of his botanical career in both the floristry and nursery industry, most recently at Cloudehill.

Eddie’s knowledge of the Dandenong Ranges gardens and the plants in them is exceptional and he will explore the gardens with you, bringing to life their history, special features and treasures. Eddie’s expertise will also inspire you as he shares his passion about plants.​

​Fill your senses with unforgettable sights, delicious local food and wine and the scents of stunning spring gardens. Meeting at Kalorama each morning, you will travel through the hills with our expert guides for the day and explore private gardens not usually open to the public. The Briars, Kallista - First cultivated as a raspberry farm in the 1890s, the current garden terraces, constructed by previous owner Jeremy Francis, feature a stunning garden full of exotic plants.

Ferny Creek Horticultural Society, Kallista - A picnic lunch and presentation workshop from the society members will be followed by a guided tour of the expansive garden acreage.

Boyanda, Ferny Creek - Enjoy the meticulously catalogued plantings and detailed plan indicating the current gardens bloom colours, whether early, medium or late flowering and their expected size at maturity. 

Midgarth, Sherbrook - Talented owners will tour this alpine specialist garden with you and provide a short workshop with an opportunity to purchase plants.
